The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is hosting its 26th Annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast, an event that brings the spiritual communities of all faiths together to celebrate in fellowship and prayer. The theme this year is “Hope.” The breakfast is Thursday, May 1 at CLU’s Gilbert Sports Center (130 Overton Court, Thousand Oaks) from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The keynote speaker is former Rams All-Pro tackle, Andrew Whitworth.

Whitworth was named the 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year. He won his first Super Bowl when the Rams defeated his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals, 23 to 20 in Super Bowl LVI. He retired in 2022 after 16 seasons in professional football.

“We’re excited to have Andrew join us at our 26th prayer breakfast,” says John Bradley, Prayer Breakfast chair. “His talk will be moving and uplifting.”

Other speakers include Rev. Gary Dickey, CLU President Dr. John Nunes, Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff, Simi Valley City Council member Elaine Litster and Thousand Oaks City Council member Bob Engler. Mary Olson, KCLU Radio's general manager, is a speaker and also the emcee.

“The National Day of Prayer Breakfast is always inspirational,” says Ronnie Stone, president and CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. “Participants come away with a sense of hope and optimism for the world. It’s something all of us can benefit from.”
